Jane Campions distressing movie about John Keats and Fanny Brawne, the theme of his Bright Star sonnet, is a conspicuous achievement. Its an awkwardly lifelike, lyrical, intense, frank rendezvous with one of the good poets (played by Ben Whishaw) by his attribute with a lady who schooled to conclude communication by him.

Whats so successful about the movie is the concentration on the vain, flirtatious, afterwards sexually committed Fanny, played by the Australian singer Abbie Cornish; and the distraction of her world, Hampstead circa 1820.

The movie has been criticised, fairly, for not guileless Keatss difference sufficient for example, giving us a loud nightingale when Keats is essay his paper to it. What rises us over such teenager misjudgments is the story of in turn mania and loss, that Campion creates so involving.
